4:00 - 5:00 p.m.	Orientation Session for students and parents who did not attend summer orientation - Bulldog Theatre, Olmsted Center
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.	Residence Hall Meetings - Residence Halls Off-campus (commuter) Students Meeting - Olmsted Center
8:00 - 10:00 p.m.	On-campus activities for all new students

 

Thursday, August 23 - Saturday, August 25 - Group dynamics and campus resources

These intense and fun days are designed to facilitate your successful transition to Drake with a focus on group interaction, leadership development, and campus realities inside and outside the classroom. Also included is a very important meeting with faculty and academic administrators in each college or school. ALL new students are expected to participate in ALL activities.

10:15 – 11:15 a.m.	Community Welcome Activity
11:30 – 1:15 p.m.	College/School Reality and Strategy Meeting (Including lunch with faculty and academic administrative staff)
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.	Group Activities and Community Service Opportunities
4:30 – 6:30 p.m.	Break and Dinner – Hubbell Dining Hall/Quad Creek Cafe
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.	Changes, Challenges and Choices
9:00 – 11:00 p.m.	On-campus evening activities

 

Friday, August 24

9:00 - 12:15 p.m.	Group Activities and Community Service Opportunities
12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.	Picnic – Helmick Commons

5:00 - 5:30 p.m.	PMACs meet with FYS

7:00 – 8:30 p.m.	Closing Ceremony - Sheslow Auditorium Welcome - President David Maxwell

Sunday, August 26 - Day free to complete personal tasks

• If you are interested in Drake choirs, marching band, theatre, or other specific
  groups, please refer to the Special Interest Information flyer as
  posted at /life/welcome/special.php.
• The University Book Store will be open from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 p.m. for students to purchase books and supplies.

 

Monday, August 27 – First day of classes

 

Wednesday, September 5

4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Fall Activities Fair Student organizations will provide information and sign-up opportunities.

Note: Welcome Weekend meals will be provided for new students living off campus. Contact your PMAC for meal tickets.
