Biography

Kristi Harshbarger is the Director of the Entrepreneurial and Transactional Law Clinic and Assistant Clinical Professor of Law. She oversees students as they deliver transactional legal services to entrepreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits that are owned by or serve underrepresented groups.

Professor Harshbarger brings nearly 20 years of experience in legal practice and public sector advocacy. She previously served as General Counsel for the Iowa State Association of Counties, where she provided in-house legal counsel and statewide legal support to county officials and staff. She began her legal career as an associate at BrownWinick, focusing on secured transactions—particularly for ethanol and biodiesel facilities—along with estate planning and general business law.

Professor Harshbarger holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Iowa and a JD from Drake University Law School.
