Dr. Alina Grimm has performed nationally and internationally as a percussionist, performer, and educator. She served as guest timpanist with the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra in Hubei, China and was the timpanist with the Holland Symphony (MI). She has worked with the Des Moines Metro Opera, Des Moines Metro Concert Band, El Paso Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Wind Symphony, El Paso Opera, Timberline Symphony, Jackson Symphony, West Michigan Symphony as a substitute percussionist and has worked shows with the El Paso Dinner Theater and Des Moines Community Playhouse. She has also been active as a chamber artist and soloist. She has formed the Red Cedar Percussion Ensemble, the 3-4-3-Duo percussion ensembles and the Synchronize Duo of flute and percussion.

She recently received her Doctorate in Musical Arts from Michigan State University in Percussion Performance. She earned her Masters degree from University of Texas at El Paso and her Bachelors from Drake University, both in percussion performance. She was a teaching assistant at both Michigan State University and University of Texas at El Paso, and had a very active teaching studio in both Texas and Michigan. She has studied with Gwendolyn Burgett, Dr. Jon Weber, Randy Gillespie, James White, and Robert Meunier. She is currently serving on the board of the Addam C. Medina Foundation in Des Moines. Dr. Grimm is currently a Teaching Artist and Fine Arts Coordinator at Drake University.
