Arie Schächter

Arie Schächter, viola, is Assistant Principal Viola with the Seattle Symphony. Israeli-born, Mr. Schächter was a winner of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship for 10 consecutive years and was repeatedly invited to play in chamber music seminars directed by Isaac Stern. In addition, he played in master classes with renowned artists including Pinchas Zukerman, Shlomo Mintz and Tabea Zimmermann. Schächter was awarded a full scholarship to study with Masao Kawasaki and Catharine Carroll at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Schächter has performed in numerous music festivals including those of Aspen, Caramoor and the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival.
