Internships and Independent Studies 

All concentrators in the Women’s and Gender Studies program complete a practicum through either an internship or an independent study.

Recent independent study topics include Female Life Stages, Geek Culture, Human Trafficking, Women in Public Policy, Feminist Poetics, and Feminism and Horror.


National Women’s Studies Association

The Drake Women’s and Gender Studies program is a member of the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA). Each year, we offer three complimentary memberships to students in the WGS program. Student members of NWSA receive reduced registration for the annual NWSA conference and are eligible to apply for NWSA scholarships, conference grants, awards, and prizes.
