Transfer Credit

You've worked hard to earn your credits. Now get credit for that work.

We know that as a tranfer student, you're concerned about how your coursework will apply once you get to Drake. That's why we offer simple online tools you can use today to estimate how the credits you've earned fit into the requirements of your Drake degree. Then, once you're admitted, representatives from your chosen program will work closely with you to make sure you get all the credit you deserve.

Get a Head Start

Drake's Office of the Registrar provides a number of different tools you can use to estimate how the credit you've already earned may apply to a Drake degree. Whether you have taken AP, IB, or CLEP tests, attended an Iowa community college, or completed courses at another institution, these guides will help you see how the work you've already done can help you reach your goals.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Once you are admitted, you'll work with academic representatives in your college or school to complete an official transfer credit evaluation, matching the courses you have completed to the specific requirements of your program or degree.

You may transfer up to 94 academic semester credit hours for all majors except pharmacy, which accepts up to 178 credits. A maximum of 66 semester hours of credit may be transferred from two-year institutions. Up to 16 credit hours of career- or vocational-technical courses may be accepted at the discretion of the assistant or associate dean of the Drake college or school in which you want to enroll. A minimum of 30 semester hours must be completed while in residence at Drake.
