Drake University Continuing Education & Professional Development develops its own online content, and also offers a number of courses developed by PLS 3rd Learning.

Enrollment in any of these courses may be used for:

  • Renewal of teaching certificates.
  • Advancement on local salary schedules.
  • Elective credits in graduate degree programs.

Important Online Course Information

Online course participants are required to read selected course materials, view video modules (where required), engage in weekly online discussion with colleagues and instructors, and complete three to four application assignments and one summary project.

You may enroll in a maximum of 12 credit hours in one semester through Continuing Education & Professional Development. Questions? Please contact the Distance Learning Center at 1-800-76-TEACH (83224).

Students seeking to use these courses for recertification or salary advancement should seek prior approval from their school district or appropriate licensing agency.  Scroll down for a list of states from which we cannot currently accept registrations, located at the bottom of this page. 

Tax Information:

Students taking EDMA courses through Continuing Education and Professional Development during the 2015 calendar year will not have a 1098T tax form available for viewing in blueView unless they were enrolled in a Drake degree program. In so far as is possible, Drake University will provide information, upon request, to any person concerning charges and payments related to their own academic activity at Drake University, regardless of whether or not a 1098T statement was generated. However, under the provisions of FERPA, financial information is protected information that will not be released to any person, other than the student, without the student’s express written consent. Persons who must have this consent to obtain information include a spouse, parent, or tax preparer. Questions should be directed to Student Account Services, (515) 271-2151, Option 4.
