Program Details

Drake offers several endorsements in the field of science including:

  • All Sciences (5-12)
  • Biology (5-12)
  • Chemistry (5-12)
  • Earth Science (5-12)
  • General Science (5-12)
  • Physical Science (5-12)
  • Physics (5-12)
  • Science (K-8)

These endorsement programs prepare individuals to teach specific science subjects and programs at various educational levels.

Program Options

The elementary level Science Endorsement (150) is available in combination with the following degree programs.

The secondary level endorsements, All Sciences (184/185), Biology (151), Chemistry (152), Earth Science (153), General Science (154), Physical Science (155), and Physics (156), are available in combination with the following degree programs.

  • Financial Aid
    • Iowa teacher shortage areas are designated annually by the Iowa Department of Education. Teachers in shortage areas may be eligible for college student forgiveable loans through both state and federal programs. Science has been identified as a shortage area. Information regarding application for forgivable loans is available at the Iowa College Student Aid Commission website

In an announcement made by Senator Tom Harkin, the U.S. Department of Education Rehabilitation Long-Term Training program awarded Drake University a major grant to increase the number of individuals trained in providing all areas of rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.
