Do you have a passion for learning and enjoy sharing this love of learning with others?
Noyce@Drake, officially titled Improving Secondary Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Computer Science Teacher Preparation through a sequence of Active Teaching Experiences, will support the development of four cohorts of secondary STEM teachers starting in the fall of 2020.
The program will provide scholarships, stipends, and enhanced learning opportunities to high achieving students interested in teaching, secondary physics, mathematics, chemistry, or computer science.
Final Acceptance to the Noyce Scholars program in contingent upon full admittance to Drake's School of Education program, review of offical transcripts and letters of recommendations, and alignment of a qualifying STEM degree.
Undergraduate students can apply in either their junior or senior year and receive $15,000 in scholarships per year. The scholarship funds can help students finish their STEM degree and also complete the needed education courses and experiences that lead to teaching licensure.
Graduate students with a bachelor's degree in STEM fields can apply and receive $20,000 of stipends in order to pursue a master's degree in education that results in teaching licensure.
All recipients of scholarships and stipends must commit to teach for two years in high needs schools for every year of Noyce funding. High need schools constitute a wide array of districts from urban to rural, and scholars can pursue positions throughout the United States upon graduation and teacher licensure.
As specified by the National Science Foundation, applicants must be United States citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens.
