Pyrophoric materials are extremely reactive to the presence of air, moisture, oxygen or water. Because of this, they have the tendency to ignite spontaneously when oxygen and water are present. Without proper handling, these materials can result in fire or explosion leading to serious injuries or death.
As such, personnel handling these materials must be fully equipped to understand the hazard and safety measures associated with handling the materials.
