Some programs have financial aid policies that differ from standard policies.
Students considering enrolling in the following programs should familiarize themselves with these policies.
The Health Sciences + ABSN degree track has a program length of 9 semesters (4 regular fall/spring years and a final summer semester). More information about this program can be found here. Put simply, billing and financial aid policy for students in this program align with regular billing and financial aid policy for on-premise bachelor-degree seeking students. Students enrolled in this program are billed at the full-time undergraduate tuition rate (based on the year they began enrollment), and they can receive Drake-funded scholarships and grants, in addition to federal and state aid programs. In the final semester (summer), students are billed the undergraduate summer per-credit tuition rate. Most Drake scholarships and grants are not available in the summer semester.
Students enrolled only in the ABSN degree will complete the program in 3 semesters (fall, spring, and summer). Tuition for this program is assessed at the ABSN per-credit tuition rate (Available here under "Other Undergraduate Tuition"). Students enrolled in this program are eligible to receive financial aid from federal and state sources (but most Drake-funded scholarships and grants are not available).
Under the Law 3+3 Program, a student can earn a bachelor’s degree and a law degree in six years. More information about this program is available here. For financial aid and billing purposes, a student will be considered an undergraduate student for the first three years, and a graduate student for the remaining three years. Undergraduate scholarships and grants that students received in their first three years will not be available in the student’s final three years. However, there are many Law Scholarships available to students in their final three years.
Under the MS in Leadership Development 4+1 program, students can earn a bachelors degree and a MS in Leadership Development in 5 years. Students may apply to the program in their junior year and complete up to three courses in their senior year (or once they reach senior status). Students then complete the remaining seven MSLD courses during their fifth year. More information about this program is available here. For financial aid and billing purposes students will be classified as undergraduate students for the first four years and a graduate student in the 5th year. Undergraduate scholarships and grants that students received in their first four years will not be available in the student’s final year.
Drake offers several pre-Occupational Therapy tracks, allowing you to earn both a Bachelor's degree and an Occupational Therapy Doctorate degree in 6 years. More information about this program is available here. For financial aid and billing (tuition) purposes, students will be considered undergraduate students for the first three years, and graduate students for the final three years (OTD 1-3). Undergraduate scholarships and grants that students received in their first three years will not be available in the student’s final three years. Instead, students in the OTD 3+3 program will receive the Pursuit of Excellence in Occupational Therapy Scholarship (the amount of this scholarship will be provided in your OTD admission letter).
The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program consists of six years—two years as pre-pharmacy and four years of the Pharmacy program. More information about the PharmD curriculum is available here. For financial aid purposes, a student is considered an undergraduate student for their first 4 years, or through their second year in the pharmacy program (P2 year). Students in their P3 and P4 years are considered graduate students for financial aid purposes.
For billing purposes, regular undergraduate tuition is assessed for the student’s first two years (pre-pharmacy), and PharmD tuition rates are assessed in the student’s remaining four years (P1 through P4). Drake’s Tuition Guarantee applies to undergraduate students (including pre-pharmacy students), but it does not apply to PharmD tuition rates.
The Psychology & NSCI Department from the College of Arts & Sciences and the Counseling Program from the School of Education offers an accelerated curriculum allowing students to complete both a B.S. in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Counseling in five years. More information about this program is available here. For financial aid and billing (tuition) purposes, students in this track will be considered undergraduate students for the first three years, and graduate students for the final two years. Undergraduate scholarships and grants that students received in their first three years will not be available in the student’s final two years.
Students enrolled in Drake-approved Partner Programs may receive 100% of the financial aid they would otherwise receive if studying on campus, with the exception of Tuition Waiver or Tuition Rebate benefits. Information about available study-abroad opportunities, costs, application procedures and more is available here.
