Centers and Institutes

Preparing Bulldogs to become responsible global citizens doesn’t start and end in the classroom.

Rich co-curricular activities and global learning opportunities are vital to students’ development, and Drake is home to several centers and institutes that provide hands-on experiences. Through events, academics, resources, and special programs, these entities play a critical role in bringing the world to campus.

Principal Center for Global Citizenship

The Principal Center for Global Citizenship brings a global perspective to campus and the broader Des Moines community through events and other activities. The center funds a number of student scholarships and faculty grants, and oversees the Global Practitioner in Residence program.

The Nelson Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs

The Nelson Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs provides in-depth international knowledge and experiences to students interested in pursuing a career related to international affairs. The Nelson Institute funds several scholarship and grant programs as well as the Diplomat in Residence program.
