Drake Recreation

Recreational Services has had a strong start to both intramural basketball and indoor soccer. The attendance for the frat league, the women’s rec league, and the men’s competitive league for basketball has been excellent. Games have also been quite competitive, with at least two games going to overtime from the first couple weeks. There has also been great interest in our CoRec soccer league, with the Wednesday night division reaching max capacity well before the deadline.

Coming up in the next few weeks we are starting our racquet sports. Racquetball doubles started this Monday and will run through the end of March. We have a one-day badminton doubles tournament Friday, February 10th with over 16 teams. Tennis doubles league will start on Monday and will also run through the end of March.

Finally, we have unified soccer starting on the 19th, which should be and exciting and fun league. It’ll be great to see how students and unified athletes interact with each other on the soccer pitch.

It’s a busy and exciting time in IMs right now.

The Bell Center and Underground Fitness have been very active with lots of students meeting their fitness needs.  We are excited about some new wellness opportunities starting this semester.  Details to come in the next newsletter!
