Religious and Interfaith Studies Minor

For a minor in Religious and Interfaith Studies, you must complete 18 credit hours—two required courses and 12 hours of electives.

This minor provides options for both Religious Studies and Interfaith Studies.

  • Religious Studies is a multi-disciplinary field of studies that seeks to understand and explain religious practices, beliefs, and institutions.
  • Interfaith Studies emphasizes contemporary interactions and relationships between practitioners of different religious traditions.

Although students may choose to focus in either Religious Studies or Interfaith Studies, our program offers the opportunity to combine the two through the study and engagement of local-lived religion (through a site-visit series, a speaker series, an interfaith camp, and practicum opportunities in the local community).

In addition to REL courses offered by the Department of Philosophy and Religion, non-REL courses with significant religious content can count toward the minor.
