National First-Generation Week

 

 

Monday November 3rd:

College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences:

  • 1:30 - 2:30pm

  • Being the first in your family to navigate college is something to be proud of! Stop by for snacks, friendly faces, and practical support. We’ll have guest appearances by Dean Maki and other CPHS first-gen faculty and staff each day from 1:30–2:30 p.m. in SCB 228 to celebrate successes, share resources, and help students feel confident and inspired for what’s ahead.

Tuesday, November 4th: 

  • School of Education: 
    • 9:30am - 3:30pm
    • First floor of Collier-Scripps Hall
    • Stop by the front desk reception from 9:30am - 3:30pm on the to write a note of encouragement for our first-generation students, faculty, and staff. First Gen students who stop by will receive a goody bag.
  • College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences:
    • 1:30 - 2:30pm
    • SCB 228

Wednesday, November 5th:

  • Olmsted Center Breezeway Tabling
    • 10am - 2pm
    • Come get some yummy snacks, first gen stickers and meet other first gen students, faculty and staff.
    • Photos with Griff from 10 - 10:30am
  • Zimpleman College of Business:
    • 10:00 - 11:00am
    • Donuts with Dean Mitchell 
    • Aliber 204
  • College of Arts & Sciences: 
    • 12:00 - 2:00pm
    • A&S Student Support Wing (outside of FAC 278)
    • Donuts, Coffee, and Food Drive event to celebrate First Generation Students from 12-2pm in the A&S Student Support Wing. Come to our event to enjoy Hurts Donuts, coffee or cocoa, write encouraging notes of inspiration to first generation college students, connect with the A&S Student Support Team, and take some time to celebrate! Given we are in the giving season, we will also be holding a food drive for the Drake Little Pantries. If you bring a non-perishable food item, you’ll be entered into a drawing for gift cards from various local business, such as the Library Café, Lucky Horse, and more!
