Student Organizations

Accounting students may join several professional and honor societies and other business-oriented student organizations. Through these groups, you'll expand your skills, hear from prestigious speakers, and find a support system of students taking similar courses.

Drake University is one of three institutions in Iowa to host a chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), the accounting honorary organization. The Drake chapter of Beta Alpha Psi provides opportunities for student networking, community service, and leadership development. While membership is based upon academic performance, several events are open to all students.

Drake University is one of only 25 schools in the United States, and the only one in Iowa, to host a student chapter of Information Systems and Audit Control Association (ISACA). ISACA is the premier organization for information systems, accounting, and IT security professionals.

Additionally, accounting students are eligible for free or reduced membership in many professional organizations, including the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
