Rising Stars Youth Show Choir

Rising Stars Youth Show Choir is a wonderful experience for any young performer. Singers in grades K-8 participate in this 25 voice choir where they always have the opportunity to sing solos, dance, act and strut their stuff!

Rising Stars Choir has been performing throughout the Des Moines metro area for over five years. The choir was chosen to perform at the internationally recognized Des Moines Arts Festival in 2009, 2010, 2012 & 2013. After being seen at the festival in 2010, they were selected by America's Got Talent scouts to attend an invitation only audition for the television show!

The choir has also recently been seen performing on the AE Stage at the 2011 Iowa State Fair and will be performing on the Bill Riley stage at the 2013 Iowa State Fair! In addition to performing multiple concerts throughout the year, Rising Stars singers tour Des Moines area elementary schools twice a year and enjoy participating in community outreach programs.‌

  • Section 1 meets on Mondays from 5:45-6:45 p.m.
  • Section 2 meets Thursdays from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

Students may enroll for one or both sections of Rising Stars.

Tuition: $182 per semester payable to Drake University Community School of Music (New students also pay DUSCOM's one-time $30 enrollment fee). Additionally, students pay a $25 materials fee to the instructor.

Shooting Stars (Children with special needs)

Rising Stars is pleased to offer a special program for special kids! Students enrolled in the Shooting Stars program will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Rising Stars choir throughout the year.

Upon enrollment in this program, every child and his/ her caregiver will meet with the director to discuss individual needs and talents. After the initial meeting, a rehearsal schedule will be set up so that the new choir member can become part of the Rising Stars family! Rising Stars is a non-audition show choir where members have the opportunity to sing, dance, cheer, tumble, act, announce, etc. Every singer's individual talents are showcased!

All enrolled singers will perform on the end of the semester concert and will also have the opportunity to perform at Valley West Mall and join the performance school tour!

This choir is open to all children regardless of mental or physical abilities and we are very excited to offer this opportunity to include more of the Des Moines area's amazing children!

Tuition is pro-rated.

Rising Stars Summer Camp

Rising Stars Youth Show Choir also offers singers two sessions of camp during the summer. Rising Stars summer campers have performed on the Performing Arts Stage at the internationally recognized Des Moines Arts Festival and on the AE Stage at the Iowa State Fair!

Campers rehearse for one week from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and end their week with an epic performance on a huge stage!

Here's an opportunity to learn an entire show choir set, sing a solo, tumble across the stage, dance and sing with your friends! Get voice lessons, dance lessons and choir experience all in one summer!

Students in grades K-8 of any experience level may enroll.
