Phi Alpha Theta: The national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 400,000 members. Our department has an active local chapter and all students interested in history are welcome to participate.
Drake University Social Science Journal: A student-edited, web-published journal that features student essays and research papers in the social sciences. A number of History students have had papers published in this journal.
Missouri Valley History Conference: An annual conference at the University of Nebraska at Omaha which accepts student presentations on Phi Alpha Theta sponsored panels. Submission deadline is usually in November. Drake students presented here in 2018 and 2019.
Midwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities: An annual conference that rotates between Simpson College and Wartburg College. Submission deadline is usually at the beginning of October. Drake students presented here in 2018.
Iowa Historical Review: A student-run journal published once a semester, which accepts a wide range of submissions.
The Grand Valley Journal of History: An undergraduate journal that publishes historically based research.
American Historical Association (AHA): The AHA is the largest professional organization in the United States devoted to the study and promotion of history and historical thinking
Organization of American Historians (OAH): The mission of the OAH is to promote excellence in the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American history and to encourage wide discussion of historical questions and the equitable treatment of all practitioners of history.
