About Griff II

Griff II, was born July 12, 2018 in Minnesota. He was introduced as the Drake University's second official live mascot on July 1, 2020. He succeeded Griff I upon his retirement on June 30, 2020, after nearly 5 years of timeless service.

Griff II embodies all the qualities of a Drake Bulldog. He is proud, smart, loyal, curious, friendly, gentle, stubborn, patient, happy, easy-going, and affectionate.

Griff II is a key part of recruiting efforts, student life, alumni functions, Drake athletics, community engagement, and more. Griff II is loved by all and has a positive impact wherever he goes. He is, proudly, Des Moines’ hometown dog.
