Sean P. Severe, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Economics

Sean Severe received bachelor’s of arts in economics (Magna Cum Laude) from Gonzaga University in 2006 and his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2011 while studying how banking competition affects the potency of monetary policy. He was hired at Drake University as an assistant professor of economics in 2011 and became an associate professor in 2017. His research focuses on banking competition, failure, and lending outcomes. He teaches principles of macroeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and introduction to econometrics.
