Internships and Careers


Drake is located in Iowa’s capital – the hub of business, government and culture. Drake’s location in Des Moines offers countless opportunities for internships, professional development, and careers. Des Moines is considered one of the world’s capitals of insurance and financial services, and is home to numerous other industries and several Fortune 500 companies. As a part of our Data Analytics program, Drake is connected with employers who are eager to extend internships to students in this discipline. These employers will also be a rich source of future jobs for program graduates.

Our students have multiple opportunities for traditional and corporate internships. Examples of recent company internships in IS include: Casey's General Store, Dart, Discover, EMC Insurance, Granular, Humana, Hy-Vee, Inc., Iowa Wild, and the US Federal Reserve.

The Data Analytics program is designed to prepare students for data analytics careers in any field in which data is needed to help steer decisions—insurance, biology, marketing, actuarial science, sports, computer science, health care, economics, finance, and more. Professionals in this field are in extremely high demand in a variety organizations and industries throughout the world. Data Analytics can be the factor that separates a student from the pack when it comes time to find a job.
