Faculty Development & Enrichment Grants

Grants are available to support a variety of development and enrichment activities related to teaching, professional development, leadership development and collaboration.  We prioritize funding that benefits teaching and pedagogy, involves community partners, or engages faculty in developing new skills and capacities.

Eligibility
Full-time faculty on the tenure-line, on consecutive term appointments, and on multiple-year visiting appointments

Resources
Up to $1,500 per grant

Timeline
Applications accepted on a rolling basis, and are considered as long as funds are available.

To Apply, please provide via email:

  • A 2-3 page narrative of the development opportunity, including how it will benefit your work at Drake, a timeline for completion, likely outcomes, and a budget.
  • An abbreviated CV (1-2 pages), highlighting relevant teaching, scholarship, and service.

Faculty are not required to share their plans for enrichment and development with their department chair or Dean; however, we expect that faculty will exhaust funding available to them through departmental and college/school sources, before applying for a faculty development and enrichment grant.

Please reach out with questions and submit your application to:

Faculty & Staff Development Opportunities

Interested in developing a short-term learning experience abroad or better incorporating writing into your courses? Do you seek help with conducting research or need funding to support a service-learning opportunity for students?

Many offices and units provide advice and institutional and monetary support to faculty and staff in a broad range of professional development areas, including:

  • Research, scholarship, and creative activity
  • Teaching and learning development
  • Administrative and leadership development
  • Student assistantships
  • Course, program, and curricular planning
  • Community, public-policy, and international engagement

In addition to these resources, academic deans and administrative directors can provide logistical and monetary support for members of their units. In particular, faculty seeking resources for travel to academic conferences should contact their dean’s office in addition to the other resources included on this site.
