In today’s competitive job market, advanced skills and knowledge are a necessity. Graduate certificates are a perfect fit for students who wish to develop their expertise by adding an advanced credential to their resume.   

Upon completing the certificate program, participants should have the ability to design and implement strategies in their chosen area that provide organizations a competitive advantage.

Drake University’s College of Business & Public Administration (CBPA) offers 9 graduate certificates.

Accounting (Taxation)

The graduate Accounting certificate provides students with specialized knowledge and skills in taxation or risk-management.  The taxation track provides students with an overview of the different areas of taxation and provides them with the skills and knowledge to identify and resolve tax issues encountered in business practices.

Accounting (Governance, Risk, and Compliance)

The graduate Accounting certificate provides students with specialized knowledge and skills in taxation or risk-management.  The GRC track provides various entity stakeholders with insights and an understanding of a risk – a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within an entity.

Business Analytics

The Business Analytics certificate provides a base skillset of recognizing the importance of data for solving operational, tactical, and strategic level organizational problems. In addition, students will learn how to evaluate the characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of digital data as well as understand data-related laws and ethical practices.

Cybersecurity Management

The Cybersecurity Management certificate encompasses five courses targeting individuals in the workforce looking to further their expertise and careers to include facets of cybersecurity management.

This certificate requires 15 credit hours including three required courses plus two additional courses from a predetermined list of electives.

The Financial Decision Making certificate provides mid-level managers the tools they need to develop budgets and make financial decisions by developing a deeper understanding of finance as they are given increased responsibility.

To be admitted to any of the CBPA Graduate Certificate Programs, students must submit the following:

  1. Completed and signed Graduate Certificate Application
  2. Official transcripts from every college or university previously attended
  3. Current professional resume or curriculum vitae
