Background: Suzanne Blackburn is responsible for the leadership of the Strategic Benefit Services Department for Medco Health Solutions. This department is responsible for the direction, development, and integration of strategic benefit plan initiatives and innovative market solutions to support Medco's leadership position in the healthcare marketplace. This department is also responsible for business strategy and direction on regulatory compliance requirements affecting Medco and its clients.

Before joining Medco Health, Blackburn was Senior Vice President, Managed Care Plans for PCS Health Systems, Inc. and prior to her tenure at PCS, she was Director of Pharmacy Programs at Diversifies Pharmaceutical Services. She also spent several years as a clinical pharmacist in a full-service medical center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has served as a retail pharmacist.

Blackburn is an active member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) and has served on AMCP's Board of Directors. She belongs to the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Minnesota State Pharmaceutical Association. Blackburn participates as a member and/or consultant on national managed care pharmacy advisory boards of various pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Blackburn is an accomplished speaker on health care cost management with particular emphasis on pharmaceutical cost management services and managed care strategy. She is well versed in the evolution of the PBM Industry, the development oh pharmacy benefit management products/services, the delivery of clinical and analytical assessment and client consultative service and the dynamic change and impact of Federal and State health care regulation.

Blackburn earned a bachelor of pharmacy degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She received postgraduate training in health care management at the College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota and in Managed Care Pharmacy Management at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
