MSE in Culturally Responsive Leadership and Instruction

This 32-credit hour master's degree has six required courses focused on effective teaching, cultural proficiency, and teacher leadership. Students may then select 15 additional credits from numerous pathways.

Core Courses  (17 credit hours)

EDCR 201:  Effective Teaching I

EDCR 202:  Culturally Responsive Teaching I

EDCR 203:  Effective Teaching II

EDCR 204:  Culturally Responsive Teaching II

EDCR 205:  Teacher Leadership

EDCR 206:  Capstone/Action Research (2 credits) 

All listed courses are 3-credit courses unless otherwise noted

Elective Courses (15 credit hours)

Students may choose 15 credits in an area of interest to personalize their degree plan as electives. Elective courses are offered in 

  • Early childhood
  • Elementary or Secondary
  • Urban Education
  • Math, Science or STEM
  • English Language Learners
  • Reading or Literacy
  • Special Education
  • Talented and Gifted

and many others!

Some students may satisfy BOEE State of Iowa teaching endorsement requirements and add an endorsement to their license.
