Incoming transfer students from any undergraduate major(s) may participate in the Honors Program.
Transfer students are welcome to join the Honors program. Review the information at Drake.edu/Honors to determine if the Drake Honors program is a good fit for you. Then, submit your application by the priority deadline to be eligible to register for Honors courses as soon as your first semester at Drake.
If you have not yet started your Drake university admission application, you must start it before applying to the Honors program.
All students must apply to Drake University before applying to the Honors program. Once you have done so, you may then complete your Honors program application.
Submit your previous coursework for consideration for Drake transfer credit. It is unlikely that non-Drake coursework will apply towards the Honors Track except for the three Areas of Inquiry courses required: Lab Science, Quantitative Literacy, and Artistic Literacy. However, students may transfer up to 6 credits from another undergraduate Honors program to count as Honors electives. Such approval is at the discretion of the Honors Director.
Many courses are cross-listed in other departments and programs, giving students a chance to experience the small, interdisciplinary, discussion-based atmosphere of Honors courses while still earning credit toward degree completion. To complete the full program, students take a concentration in honors that includes: Paths to Knowledge, five honors courses from three different disciplines, AND enroll in the Honors Senior Thesis (in addition to major Senior Capstone) and successfully complete the requirements for University Honors. You may see more information about these requirements here.
