Incoming transfer students from any undergraduate major(s) may participate in the Honors Program.
Begin the Honors Track of the University Curriculum by enrolling in Honors Program or Honors cross-listed courses at Drake. When you have determined that you will pursue completion of the Honors Program, please declare your intention and notify both the College Dean's and Honors Program administrative office.
Stop by the Honors Office in Medbury 206/209 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment.
Submit your previous coursework for consideration for Drake transfer credit. It is unlikely that non-Drake coursework will apply towards the Honors Track except for the three Areas of Inquiry courses required: Lab Science, Quantitative Literacy, Artistic Experience. There are, however, the rare circumstance that an Honors course taken elsewhere follows the broadly (explicit) interdisciplinary, writing and reading intensive nature of Drake University Honors Program. Or, perhaps through cross-enrollment agreements, a Drake course has applied for the Honors Track elective designation.
Many courses are cross-listed in other departments and programs, giving students a chance to experience the small, interdisciplinary, discussion-based atmosphere of Honors courses while still earning credit toward degree completion. To complete the full program, students take a concentration in honors that includes: Paths to Knowledge, five honors courses from three different disciplines, AND enrolls in the Honors Senior Thesis (in addition to major Senior Capstone) and successfully completes the requirements for University Honors.
