Acknowledgments

The following formulations offer some examples of how the Center’s support for research or creative activity should be acknowledged in various contexts.

All publications and events supported by the Center for the Humanities funding must acknowledge the Center’s support. When possible, such acknowledgment should be included in press releases, publicity materials, interviews, and other coverage.

In Published Work:

Acknowledgment of Major Support ($3,000 or more):

“This project has been made possible by a generous grant from the Center for the Humanities at Drake University” or “This work would not have been possible without the support of the Center for the Humanities at Drake University.”

Acknowledgment of supplemental support:

“This project has been supported in part by the Center for the Humanities at Drake University” or “I/we wish to thank the Center for the Humanities at Drake University for its support of this work.”

In Announcements of Events, Fliers, Program Copy, etc.:

Acknowledgment of partial funding:

"This event has been sponsored, in part, by the Center for the Humanities at Drake University."

Acknowledgment of major support (75% or more of the total event budget):

“This event is sponsored by the Center for the Humanities at Drake University.”

Acknowledgment of shortfall guarantee:

“This event has been underwritten by the Center for the Humanities at Drake University.”

In verbal remarks and introductions:

Acknowledgment of support for a visiting speaker:

“Our guest’s visit has been made possible, in part, by the Center for the Humanities at Drake University.”

Acknowledgment of support for one's own appearance:

“I/we would like to thank the Center for the Humanities for supporting my work and/or this event.”
