First Year Housing

The Quads

Four residence halls—Stalnaker, Crawford, Carpenter and Herriott—make up The Quads. These are located close to Hubbell Dining Hall and Olmsted Center, the student union. As a first-year student, you’ll likely live with one roommate in a large double room, though there are some single and triple rooms also available. You can request to room with a friend, or we’ll help you find a roommate that is specifically compatible with your personality and lifestyle. The Quads have been updated with wood furniture, carpet, air-conditioning, and the bathrooms have private showers and plenty of space to get ready in the morning.

In a double room, you’ll get:

  • Two single, extra-long beds
  • Two desks
  • Two desk chairs
  • Two dressers
  • Two large wardrobes
  • White board outside the door

Situated at the center of campus, Morehouse is conveniently located near the library and other academic buildings. The historic Morehouse Hall is one of Drake’s original residence halls, but it has been updated so the interior boasts modern amenities. In Morehouse, you’ll live on a floor for first-year students but be able to mingle with upperclass Drake students who also call the residence hall home. Though the majority of Morehouse is made up of double rooms, it does have some single and triple rooms. Each floor has large, shared bathrooms with private showers.

Each double room comes with:

  • Two single, extra-long beds
  • Two desks
  • Two desk chairs
  • Two sets of footlocker drawers
  • Two wardrobes or closets
