Meal Plans & Dining

Who needs a meal plan?

All students living on campus are required to sign up for a meal plan. For off-campus and approved commuter students, it’s optional. Additional commuter meal plans are also available to off-campus students.

You don't need a dining plan to eat on campus! Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in Hubbell Dining Hall for about $8 per meal. You can also grab a meal to go or beverage in the Convenience Store, located in the lower level of Hubbell. In Olmsted Center, you can purchase Starbucks with cash, card, or Flex dollars. In Cowles Library, you can visit the cafe for coffee, a sandwich or snack; there's also a vending machine and microwave available.

Choosing a meal plan

When you select your meal plan in the Housing & Meal Selection Portal, you’ll choose from a range of options that include a combination of pre-paid, all-you-care-to-eat meals and Flex Dollars, which can be used to purchase food at various locations on campus. You can choose the option that best fits your lifestyle. Not sure? You can change your meal plan until the first Thursday of classes.

Drake card/Bulldog Bucks

Your Drake ID Card serves as your meal ticket as well as your reloadable card for Bulldog Bucks, which can be used to purchase food, coffee, convenience items on campus, athletic concessions, laundry, and printing (beyond the $20 allotment you’ll get from Drake) as well as University Bookstore purchases and Uber rides.
