AOI Rubrics

To assess the AOI outcomes, AOI faculty have developed rubrics that describe the standards of performance for each AOI outcome. These rubrics explicitly differentiate student performance across four levels: (1) Unsatisfactory, (2) Marginal, (3) Satisfactory, (4) Excellent.

Artistic Experience
The Artistic Experience AOI rubric was developed in Fall 2018. This rubric identifies four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Identification, (2) Role of Art, (3) Analysis, and (4) Application/Engagement. 

Critical Thinking
The Critical Thinking AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2006. This rubric identifies five criteria aligned with AOI outcomes: (1) Question and claim, (2) Evidence or support, (3) Organization, (4) Assumptions and alternatives, and (5) Communication.

Engaged Citizen
The Engaged Citizen AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2013. This rubric identified four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Diversity of Interest & Perspectives, (2) Analysis of Knowledge, (3) Civic Identity and Commitment, and (4) Civic Participation,

Global & Cultural Understanding
The Global & Cultural Understanding AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2013. This rubric identified four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Cultural Issues, (2) Elements of Culture, (3) Role of Institutions, and (4) Inter-Cultural Understanding. 

Information Literacy
The Information Literacy AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2013. This rubric identified four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Location/Scope of Information, (2) Analysis, (3) Organization/Application/Use of Information, and (4) Ethics of Information. 

Quantitative Literacy
The Quantitative Literacy AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2018. This rubric identified three criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Procedure, (2) Strategy, and (3) Synthesis. 

Scientific Literacy
The Scientific Literacy AOI rubric was developed in Spring 2019. This rubric identified four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Scientific Method, (2) Scientific Inquiry, (3) Scientific Theory, and (4) Interrelationships.  

Written Communication
The Written Communication AOI rubric was developed in Fall 2013. This rubric identified four criteria aligned with the AOI outcomes: (1) Voice, (2) Organization and Development, (3) Control, and (4) Content.
