Cowles Library faculty and staff are some of Drake’s most knowledgeable resources when it comes to searching for, writing, citing and analyzing data and information. If your student needs help researching for their classes, or doesn’t know where to start looking for information, our librarians are always available for research consultations. They can help offer reference assistance and keep students up-to-date on new library resources to help them with their specific topic.
Cowles Library is also home to the Writing Center and Speaking Center, both of which offer tutoring services to students who want to hone their skills in either category. The Writing Center’s faculty librarians help students define their research topic, develop search strategies, choose and cite the best sources, and avoid plagiarism. The Speaking Center tutors have valuable experience and training in speech pedagogy that help students when they select research topics, organize, draft and revise their ideas and outlines, prepare visual aids, and practice their presentation delivery.
