The Rhetoric and Media Studies program coordinates a speaking center to assist you in preparing speeches and presentations.
We offer a library of resources and also peer tutoring sessions. From planning to practice and from brainstorming to visual aids, we will help you with your group or individual class assignment, business presentation, or personal event.
The Speaking Center is directed by Dr. Faber McAlister, Drake's Coordinator of Public Speaking Instruction, and staffed by undergraduate students. Undergraduates who demonstrate proficiency in speaking and presenting and show promise in mentoring can apply to enroll in Speech Pedagogy training to work in the Speaking Center in paid tutoring jobs.
