Outreach and Presentations

The University Counseling Center (UCC) serves as a mental health consultant for students, faculty, and staff at the university. If you are interested in the UCC providing outreach or presentations to your class, organization, or program, please contact Kayla Bell-Consolver (she/her/hers), Director of UCC, by email at kayla.bell@drake.edu. We ask for at least one month in advance to adequately prepare for and schedule the presentation.

Outreach and Presentations

The UCC can offer outreach or presentations/trainings to students, faculty, and organizations on a variety of topics, such as:

  • Adjusting to College
  • Black, Indigenous, People of Color and Mental Health (i.e Racial Trauma
  • Supporting Your Friend
  • LGBTQ+ and Mental Health
  • Caring for And Recharging Equally in Leadership (C.A.R.E)
  • Mental Health as a Student Athlete
  • Sleep Hygiene
  • Self-Care and Mindfulness
  • Trauma and Mental Health
  • QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training

Presentation length can vary by organization, however on average presentations occur within 45-60 minutes. When requesting a presentation by the UCC, please provide us with the following to allow us to best prepare for your presentation:

  1. Date and Time of event
  2. Topic of Interest 
  3. Target Population
  4. Goal for the event
