International Business

The International Business program serves students who seek specialized training in the operations of multinational enterprises, international banks, global non-profits, and government agencies. Professional acumen reflecting an informed world view, the ability to interpret global data, and intercultural understanding are more valuable than ever.

Welcome to Drake International Business!

We are very excited about our international business (IBUS) major here at Drake. Educated at some of the world's best international business schools, the IBUS faculty have collectively spent time in over 80 countries, speak half a dozen languages, and bring to the classroom work experience spanning from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. As a result, our program is as robust as those offered by any other world-class institution, and we believe our students can successfully compete with graduates from any program in the world!

International Business students at Drake have many opportunities to engage both inside and outside the classroom. In the classroom, you will be challenged and encouraged to develop a transnational mindset. Our curriculum emphasizes not only the fundamentals of global business but also ensures that students leave Drake with a solid knowledge of world culture, history, languages, and society that is crucial to commercial success today.

Outside of the classroom, you will have many opportunities to study abroad, participate in programming supported by the Nelson Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs, work with international companies and non-profits in Iowa and beyond, or engage in collaborative research with faculty and other students. For example, students have recently worked in financial services firms in Des Moines, Dubai, and Santiago, studied anywhere from Argentina to Vietnam, supported building a health clinic in Uganda, and studied the evolution of Islamic consumer markets.
