Your PharmD is within reach. Drake’s 6-year Extended Pharmacy Pathway gives those juggling personal and professional commitments the opportunity to further their healthcare education.
Pursue your PharmD degree on a timeline that accommodates your busy lifestyle. In this part-time,* accredited program, students will follow the same curriculum used in Drake University’s traditional, nationally-ranked Doctor of Pharmacy program. The only difference? An extended 6 (as opposed to 4) year timeline that allows individuals unable to commit to being full-time students due to circumstances such as family or work obligations to complete their coursework on a schedule that fits their needs.
*With the exception of the 6th year of the program, in which students enter full-time rotations.
In the Extended Pathway, you will complete your first 5 years of coursework on a part-time, block schedule (see example below) in which you will spend approximately 3 designated half-days per week on the Drake University campus, completing a lighter workload of only 8-12 credit hours per semester. This is intended to provide you with the supplementary time you need for work and life commitments. In the 6th and final year, you’ll enter your clinical rotations on a full-time basis to gain valuable experience that will prepare you for your career as a pharmacist.
Prerequisite coursework and admission requirements are the same as those for the traditional Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway.
