Program Options

Undergraduate level degrees are available for elementary education, secondary education, and disability and rehabilitation services. The SOE offers a strong professional program with a solid foundation in the arts and sciences, providing knowledge and perspective for disciplines taught in schools and conveyed to clients. Within their programs, education students master a variety of methods of classroom instruction and assessment in courses that can lead to teacher certification in any state. Drake students are also empowered to apply their learning through classroom experiences in some of Iowa's top schools in all four years of the program.

Graduate level degrees include masters, and doctoral in the areas of teacher effectiveness, educational leadership, leadership, and counseling. All classes are offered in an evening or weekend delivery format during the academic year. In most instances, the graduate programs can be completed in two years. A variety of courses are also offered in an online format.

Our online graduate degrees include a MSE: Effective Teaching program designed for current teachers who wish to remain in the classroom, learn new techniques to enhance their effectiveness as educators, and rise to the level of master teacher. In addition to core courses, the program allows teachers to gain additional expertise through an area of specialization or by completing the courses required for an endorsement. This program will help you discover new methods of teaching and become a leader among teachers.

All certification and endorsement programs in the School of Education are approved and accredited by the Iowa Department of Public Instruction, pursuant to Chapter 79, Code of Iowa.
