Katy Bisanti is originally from Des Moines and recently returned after living most recently in Minnesota. She studied vocal performance at the University of Kansas under Metropolitan Opera performer Joyce Castle. Katy was the founder of the Nebraska Opera Project in Omaha, Nebraska, a community outreach organization dedicated to creating performance opportunities for local artists and making the beauty of opera and classical music accessible to all.
While living in Austin, Minnesota, Katy taught K–12 music and choir at Pacelli Catholic Schools, where she infused her love of opera and musical theater into the classroom through student productions and collaborative performances with professional musicians. She also served on the board of Hometown Opera Company in Rochester, Minnesota.
Katy is excited and honored to teach at Drake University, where she looks forward to continuing to share her passion for singing, music education, and performance with her students and colleagues.
