Sign up/submit an audition:

For students interested in BFA admission and scholarship auditions/portfolio reviews, you have several options: 

All students must apply and be accepted to Drake University before admission will be considered into any of the BFA programs. Submit your application at drake.edu/apply

On-campus (Please pre-register by the Monday prior to your preferred audition event)

Auditions will take place in the Harmon Fine Arts Center. *Schedule subject to modification due to the number of auditions. 

Accompanist will be provided. A typical schedule is below:

  • 8:15-9:00 AM - Check-In/Meet and Greet/Warm-Up - Performing Arts Hall (PAH) Stage
  • 9:00-12:00 PM - Auditions (Acting/Singing/Dance Call)/ Portfolio Reviews
  • 12:00-1:00 PM -Performance by students + Q & A - PAH
  • 1:00-1:30 PM – Lunch at Hubbell Dining Hall
  • 1:30-2:15 PM – Optional Drake Panel in Sheslow (this will be a very helpful session)
  • 2:15-3:00 PM – Optional Campus Tour or Tour of FAC

No piano accompanist provided, bring your accompaniment track on your phone or other playback device. 

*Some Musical Theatre students may be invited for a group dance call-back later in the day.

*Deadline to pre-register will be 72 hours before your desired date. After that, you must register at the event.

Online Submissions

Audition videos and/or portfolio materials must be submitted by Feb. 9, 2024 through GetAccepted.

Note: There is a fee for their service.

Scholarship information:

When students audition/interview for acceptance into one of the B.F.A. degree programs, they are ALSO auditioning for possible Fine Arts Scholarship awards. Theatre minors and B.A. majors are not eligible for Fine Arts scholarships.
 

Audition/Portfolio Requirements:

The department also offers a B.A. Degree in Theatre for those students who want to pursue a second major in a different subject area. B.A. degree seeking students are NOT required to audition for the program.
