Prospective Student Information

Students wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in performance (Acting, Musical Theatre,  or Teacher Certification) or a minor in Musical Theatre must audition for admission into the program.

Students wishing to pursue a B.F.A. degree in Design and Technology must interview and present their portfolio for admission into the program.

There are several  Audition opportunities scheduled each year, both on campus and off.

For students who live more than 200 miles from Des Moines, online submissions are also an option. Audition videos and/or portfolio materials must be submitted by Feb. 17, 2021 through . Note: there is a fee for their service. 

When students audition/interview for acceptance into one of the B.F.A. degree programs, they are ALSO auditioning for possible Fine Arts Scholarship awards.

Audition/Portfolio Requirements:

The department also offers a B.A. Degree in Theatre for those students who want to pursue a second major in a different subject area. B.A. degree seeking students are NOT required to audition for the program.
