Disability Spotlight

Hello! My name is Michelle Laughlin, and I am the director of Access & Success. We provide academic coaching, tutoring and student disability services. Equal access to education is achieved when barriers to learning are removed. Our staff are here to help work with students—alongside faculty and staff—to ensure the success and inclusion of all students.

Mental health needs are on the rise nationwide. According to a recent report from the Mayo Clinic, up to 44% of college students reported having symptoms of depression and anxiety. At Drake, we offer resources for those who identify as having depression, generalized anxiety disorder, and other related issues. If you are feeling overwhelmed, are behind in your classes, have no energy, or are experiencing changes in your eating or sleeping patterns, reach out for help

Too often students do not realize that they can receive accommodations to assist with their mental health. There is no shame in asking for help. You do not need to struggle.

If you have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder or if you are just wondering how we can help, please reach out to Access & Success to explore ways you can receive the assistance you need. We are here to help. You can schedule an appointment through Starfish.
