Writing Competitions

Writing competitions are a great way for students to sharpen their legal writing skills, get published, and possibly win cash prizes.

Below is a list of writing competitions available to Drake Law students.

Chapman Albin Scholarship for Law Students
Entry deadline: June 15
Topic: 300-500 word essay, argue for or against this proposition: "Social media outlets have a responsibility to block content which is (1) patently or demonstrably false, and (2) likely to incite violence."
Award: $1,000 scholarship to recipients law school

American Inns of Court Warren E. Burger Prize
Entry deadline: July 1
Topic: Issues of professionalism, civility, ethics, and excellence. 
Award: Cash prize of $5,000
