*Auditions for the Student Productions will take place AFTER the Faculty directed casts lists are posted.
AUDITIONS will be held Saturday, 27 August in the Performing Arts Hall (PAH)
• Q&A with the directors- We will hold a Q&A with the directors starting at 8:30AM in PAH.
If you have any questions prior, please send any questions you have about the shows
and/or the audition process to the directors directly.
• 9:00am – Auditions begin – Auditions will be timed. Time begins with the first spoken or
sung word of your first audition piece.
All BFA Musical Theatre majors / minors and ANYONE (this includes BFA Actors) wanting to
audition for CARRIE or THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY must prepare:
• One contemporary monologue
• One up-tempo contemporary musical theatre piece in the style of the musicals
Total audition time not to exceed 2 minutes
All BFA Acting majors wanting to audition for only the plays must prepare:
• Two contemporary monologues (1 serious, 1 comedic)
Total audition time not to exceed 1.5 minutes
All BFA Theatre Education majors and ANYONE else wanting to audition for only the plays
must prepare:
• One contemporary monologue (serious or comedic)
Total audition time not to exceed 1 minute
NOTE: All BFA performance majors must prepare a complete audition package for their
respective degree regardless of any schedule/course conflicts you may have. No exceptions.
Just be sure to note on the audition form any conflicts that might make you ineligible to be cast in a particular production.
CALLBACKS will be held as follows:
Saturday, 27 August
• 7:00 – 10:00pm – THE BALD SOPRANO
o All actors are expected to speak in their best RP for the entirety of their callback for The Bald Soprano
Sunday, 28 August
• 10:00am – 1:30pm – CARRIE & THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY
• 6:30pm – 9:30pm – SILENT SKY
• 3:00pm – 6:00pm – THE BACCHAE
-Due to COVID-19 we ask students to show up no earlier than 10 minutes before their audition
slot. Please do not linger in the hallways. There will be members of Drake Theatre People
(DTP) to assist in the audition process.
-Due to COVID-19, any student not vaccinated and boosted will be asked to wear a mask at all
times. If you are vaccinated and boosted, you will be able to audition unmasked. Students will
be appropriately distanced from the directors and accompanist.
If for any reason, you feel uncomfortable or unsafe to audition in person due to COVID-19, you
are able to submit a video audition. Please submit a youtube link of your video to the Google
Form no later than August 22 to be considered.
Cast Lists will be posted on Monday, 29 August. If you have any questions about the audition
process, contact any faculty director. If you have questions about a specific production, contact
the specific director listed above. Below, please find a link to the AUDITION FORM. Read it
carefully and fill it out following the directions provided.
