Transfer Students

You’ve already started to make your mark in the world. Let Drake give you a powerful edge in it.

Perhaps you’re planning on transferring from community college to a university and you’re looking for the right school for you. Or your current four-year college doesn't quite "fit," or no longer meets your academic needs. Or maybe you took a few years away from college and are testing the waters before diving back in.

Hear from Drake University Transfer Students

Whatever your situation, Drake has the programs, people, and scholarships in place to leverage the hard work you’ve already done to reach your goals without adding unnecessary years to your program. Here are four steps to serve as your personal guide to the transfer process:

  1. 1

  2. 2

Apply and visit (you can do this in either order!)

Every transfer student’s timeline is a little different.

Plan a visit designed for you We know transferring colleges can be difficult. That’s why we provide transfer visit options so you can tour the campus, meet the community, and see yourself at Drake.

  3. 3

    Learn about your transfer credit

Whether you’re planning to transfer credits from community college or from a four-year institution, use our simple online tools to estimate how the credits you've earned fit into the requirements of your Drake degree. After admission, an individual meeting with the Transfer Student Advisor will solidify your academic plan and time to degree.

  4. 4

Apply for additional scholarships and need based aid

The cost per credit hour to attend Drake may not be what you initially perceive. There are many opportunities for transfer students to leverage scholarships at Drake beyond the Presidential or PTK scholarship! Take a look at our wide range of scholarships for transfer students.
