Simran Aulakh, class of 2019, is a 20-year-old neuroscience major in Drake’s pre-med track. Simran transferred from DMACC to Iowa State University for the high-quality programs that would allow here to gain a competitive advantage over her peers, and because of the many opportunities available to students in Des Moines. Generous scholarships from Drake helped cover much of her tuition, and the supportive environment at Drake has encouraged her to take on leadership roles in the community.
Kristin Porter, class of 2019, is a 36-year-old data analytics major with associate’s degrees from two community colleges and a BA from Ashford University. Kristin chose Drake not only for its highly touted data analytics program, but also for the many financial benefits available to her as a veteran of the U.S. armed forces through the Yellow Ribbon program. She’s found Drake to be a welcoming, open-minded community, with classmates who are friendly and supportive.
Nick Black, class of 2019, is a 21-year-old public relations, musical theatre, and advertising major.
Nick chose Drake because of the high career placement rate for graduates and the professors who were eager to support him as a student and help him grow as a person. A generous financial aid package made Drake more affordable than he imagined, making it possible for him to attend and pursue his degrees for about the same cost as his attendance at DMACC.
