Thanks to funding from the Slay Fund for Social Justice and the Olson Endowment for Global Service-Learning, the Office of Community Engaged Learning is able to support two faculty fellows to advance the work of community engaged learning on Drake's campus. Fellows serve a one-year term and receive a $3,000 stipend.

Slay Fellow for Community Engaged Learning

The Drake Mission, Drake Commitment, Continuous Improvement Plan, and Every Bulldog a Changemaker priority of The Ones Campaign, all promote community engagement as a signature strength of a Drake education. Furthermore, as evident by our inspiration statement, “Together we transform lives and strengthen communities”, Drake University seeks to respond to prevailing social issues in pursuit of a more just and equitable society. The Slay Fellow works to strengthen support for instructors who utilize community engagement in their teaching and expand community engaged teaching & scholarship to a broader DU audience. See the Slay CEL Fellow Position Description for more information.

Olson Fellow for Global Service-Learning

International service has been a part of the Drake culture for many years. The Ron & Jane Olson Endowment for Global Service-Learning (GSL) was established in 2012 to support the expansion of robust, transformational and dynamic global service experiences for faculty, staff and students. The Olson Fellow will work with CEL staff on programming and initiatives to expand, deepen, and disseminate their mastery of global service-learning, changemaking, and/or community engagement. Application Process 

If interested, please submit a proposal letter, no more than two pages, that addresses the following:  

• Interest and qualifications: a brief description of why you are interested in the position and what qualifications you bring to the position. 
• Focus area: Identify the one objective (listed in the position description) that you are most interested in working on. Briefly describe what you see as being Drake’s strengths and weaknesses in this area and offer initial thoughts you have for a project you might work on as a Fellow.
