Dr. Andrew Becklin is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Drake University. He received both his Ph.D. and M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Luther College.
Dr. Becklin’s research interests lie in Applied Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Game Theory, and Agent-Based Modeling. He enjoys working collaboratively with students on projects that use math to analyze aspects of the world around them. Past and present projects with students include:
Dr. Becklin believes that developing an individual’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills can transform the trajectory of their life. Because of this and the historical inequities marginalized populations have faced regarding college math preparedness, Dr. Becklin prioritizes creating an equitable and inclusive classroom that enables all students to find success.
Outside of Drake Dr. Becklin enjoys rock climbing, bike riding, playing basketball, and playing and listening to music.
