Official Transcripts

Requests for official Drake University transcripts must be made online via the National Student Clearinghouse.  Students may use this service 24 hours per day, and they may track the progress of their order. See our transcript FAQ below for more information including cost per transcript.

Per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Drake will not accept transcript requests via the phone or email.

Unofficial Transcripts

Current students may retrieve an unofficial copy of their transcript in Self Service.  Former students may retrieve an unofficial copy of their transcript through Self Service for up to one year following their last date of attendance. Step-by-step instructions can be found here.

Transcripts: Frequently Asked Questions

Drake University only issues official transcripts.  Official transcripts do not display midterm grades, class schedules, or detailed transfer coursework. We can send official electronic transcripts via the National Student Clearinghouse to any email address that is provided in the request. Hard copies are can be ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse to be mailed via the US Postal Service or expedited shipping. Hard copies will be printed on security paper and do not require a hand-embossed University seal.

How do I order my Drake transcript?

Current and former students must order their official Drake University transcripts online via the National Student Clearinghouse.  Students may use this service 24 hours per day, and they may track the progress of their order.

How much does it cost to order my official transcript?

Each requested copy costs $10.00.  A single $2.50 surcharge will be added to all orders. A $5.00 surcharge will apply to transcripts sent internationally via standard mail.  Express shipping options are available at an additional charge.  Payment is due at the time that the request is processed.

If an unofficial copy would suffice, current students can access an unofficial copy of their transcript using the Unofficial Transcript link under the Student Records heading in MyDrake.  A valid Drake ID number and password is required. Former students can access their unofficial transcript for up to one year following their last date of attendance within Self Service. 

How can I make my payment?

You must submit valid credit or debit card information at the time you submit your request.  Cash and checks are not accepted.

How long will does it take to fulfill a transcript request?

Electronic transcript orders are typically fulfilled within the hour the are received.  Orders for mailed or express mail are processed the following business day and can take 2-3 weeks to be delivered.

Can my transcript be sent electronically?

Yes, Drake is able to submit transcripts electronically.  Once the electronic transcript has been sent, Drake cannot retrieve your order to be resent.  Please ensure you have the recipient’s correct email address before requesting.  The electronic transcript is only available for download for 30 days.  If it is not retrieved before the 30th day, it will expire, and you will have to reorder a new transcript.

Are there express shipping or certified mail options for transcripts?

Yes, Drake University offers several express shipping options depending on the destination.  In addition to the transcript request fee, fees for express delivery are required to cover the cost of shipping.

  • Express/International - $75.00

Drake University offers a certified mail transcript at a $12.00 surcharge. 

Can my transcript be faxed?

Drake University is not able to fax transcripts.

Can I get a refund if my transcript is not received?

Drake is not responsible for items that get lost in the mail; therefore refunds will not be given for lost mail.  For electronic transcripts, Drake will not provide refunds for transcripts that are not retrieved.

Can I cancel my order?

The National Student Clearinghouse processes transcript requests automatically and we are unable to cancel requests. Once you have submitted your order there are no cancellations.  You will be charged for the order and there are no refunds. 

Can my transcript request be delayed until my semester grades or degree information has been posted?

No.  Students are encouraged to check their unofficial transcript on Self Service prior to requesting a transcript.  All transcripts will be sent immediately with current information at the time they are ordered.

Who should I contact if courses are missing from my transcript?

If you are a Drake degree-seeking student, contact your academic advisor or advising specialist to review your registration. If you are a Continuing Education and Professional Development students, please reach out to Continuing Education and Professional Development Office for assistance.

Note: Drake can accept official transcripts only if they are sent directly from the institution. Drake will not accept transcripts that are hand-delivered by the student.
