Drake strives to create a respectful, safe, and non-threatening environment where its members are able to live, study, and work free from sexual and interpersonal misconduct. In keeping with this goal, the University has adopted certain policies prohibiting sexual misconduct (e.g., sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual violence or sexual exploitation) and interpersonal misconduct (e.g., domestic violence, dating violence or stalking), as well as prohibiting certain relationships within which a power differential can exist:
Sexual Harassment Policy: policy statement and definitions of prohibited behavior; description of reporting options and complaint resolution/investigation process and outcomes; resources on campus and in the community; and important contact information.
Consensual Relationships: policy statement prohibiting intimate relationships between faculty/staff and student/staff over whom they have authority.
Code of Student Conduct: process for complaint resolution/investigations against students.
All students, faculty, and staff should be familiar with the above policies and behave in a way that adheres to these policies.
You may decide to come forward to the University for any number of reasons, from seeking support and resources only to possiblyfiling a complaint against the individual. Your safety and well-being are our first priority, and we will utilize all available resources to provide the support you need. If you wish to file a formal complaint against another student, Drake will launch itsinvestigatory and resolution process.
Making a report does not mean you must file a formal complaint or even criminal charges. In fact, notifying the University of your concern is separate and independent from any criminal process you may wish to initiate simultaneously.
The policies and procedures at Drake offer a fair and equitable process for responding to a complaint. The Title IX Coordinator is available to any student who has questions about this process.
