Rebecca Vieker is the Teaching Artist of Violin & Viola at Drake University, and a nationally performing soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. As a member of the Omaha Symphony and Lincoln Symphony, she has shared the stage with artists such as Joshua Bell, Emanuel Ax, and Danny Elfman. She also appears regularly with the Des Moines Symphony and the Sioux City Symphony. As a chamber musician, Rebecca is a member of the Belin String Quartet as well as a member and cofounder of the Burch Trio.
Rebecca is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Iowa where she has also served as a Teaching Assistant. She studies viola with Christine Rutledge and violin with Katie Wolfe. She previously earned a Master’s degree and Performance Diploma from Boston University under the tutelage of Michelle LaCourse and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied with Jonah Sirota of the Chiara Quartet.
Rebecca is a dedicated and enthusiastic educator. She cofounded Rebecca’s String Studio, a thriving violin and viola studio based in Des Moines, IA. Over the years, her students have won concerto competitions, earned spots in prestigious summer festivals, and performed in All-State orchestras and youth symphonies across the country. Rebecca is a registered Suzuki teacher, having completed most of her training with Terri Einfeldt at the University of Hartford. When she’s not teaching or performing, Rebecca enjoys playing volleyball, running, biking and spending time with her dog, Rey Feta Skywalker, and her husband, Chris, a microbiologist with the USDA.
