What is something you've wanted to do at your site or in your practice, but you haven't had the time to complete? How might an OT Doctoral Capstone student be able to assist you? Have you wanted to give back to the profession in a meaningful way?

The goal of the Doctoral Capstone is to provide an in-depth exposure to one or more of the following:

• Clinical Practice Skills
• Research
• Administration
• Leadership
• Program and Policy Development
• Advocacy
• Education
• Theory Development

The Doctoral Capstone is a student-driven process.

Students identify an area of interest and complete the following activities in preparation for the Doctoral Capstone:

• Literature Review
• Needs Assessment
• Identification goals and objectives
• Evaluation Plan

Quick facts:

• The doctoral capstone typically occurs in the spring semester and is 14 weeks in length for a total of 560 hours.
• A doctoral capstone mentor does NOT need to be an occupational therapist.
• This is an opportunity for students to work on something at your site that you may wish to add, modify, or update.
• Sites have the option to be selective with student requirements. For example, you may request - an interview with potential students or require students to have previous experience in a specific area of practice, etc.
• Drake University occupational therapy faculty will do their best to ensure a student placed at your site is a "good fit" to match your needs.
• This "beyond entry-level" experience does not mean students are "above" entry-level upon graduation. This doctoral capstone experience provides an additional experience that students may desire to explore at some point in their careers.
• Drake University Occupational Therapy Faculty are ready to communicate and address any questions and/or concerns you have throughout the process.
